She has successfully qualified for the upcoming school-level national archery competition scheduled to be held in Nadiad, Gujarat, on December 17th and 18th. Ovi will proudly represent the CBSE team in this esteemed competition.
Ovi’s venture into archery commenced in 2022 when she took part in a local competition. Since then, her passion for the sport has earned her numerous accolades, with the latest being a gold medal in the SFA Archery Championship held in Balewadi, Pune, in November of this year.
Initially honing her skills at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Warje Sports Complex, established by former corporator Sachin Dodke, Ovi began with the Indian bow but later transitioned to the compound bow category due to her unwavering dedication and hard work. Her confidence received a significant boost when she secured a gold medal in a state-level competition held in Latur.
Acknowledging Ovi’s potential, her coach Ajay Sonawane deemed it fitting for her to enhance her skills by joining a residential training academy. This decision led her to the Drushti Archery Academy in Satara, where she received training under the guidance of renowned archery coach Pravin Sawant. Ovi’s participation in various archery competitions not only solidified her reputation but also brought recognition to the academy.
The journey to success is never straightforward; it demands rigorous physical training and entails lengthy travels for participation in various competitions. Ovi’s father, Ritesh Dhore, has been a steadfast supporter, assisting her in every aspect to help fulfill her ambitions. With her eyes set on an Olympic medal for India, Ovi perceives her qualification for the nationals as a crucial step toward realizing that dream.
